Farewell Singapore

This weekend we met up with friends and had a farewell dinner at Lau Pa Sat. The girls gave me a book of Singapore facts and Sophie made a necklace of an orchid and an amethyst (Singapore's flower and Nolan's birthstone) which I love!

It's hard to believe our 3 year adventure has come to an end. This experience has been amazing and we were able to travel to so many places we never would have gone to if we weren't living here. We are excited to be closer to family but we are also sad to be leaving the country where we got married, had our first child, met wonderful people and created so many memories. Farewell Singapore!!

One last weekend getaway

We wanted to take one last trip and get another stamp in Nolan's passport so we went to Bintan, Indonesia for a weekend. It's only an hour ferry ride to get to Bintan so we didn't have to spend too much time traveling. It rained our first day there so we just hung out in our villa. The villa was on the side of a cliff surrounded by trees so there were a lot of bugs. We had a mosquito net for our bed and Nolan even had a mosquito net for his cot.

Saturday was overcast so we went to the beach early in case it rained all day again. Nolan was good in the ocean and on the beach.

Nolan wasn't allowed to go into the hotel pool since he's still in a diaper so we just hung out in the pool on our balcony. The water was pretty cold but Nolan didn't seem to mind.

Sunday was Father's Day so we had to get a few pics of Jimmy and Nolan together. He's such a little ham!

When we got back to our serviced apartment the staff gave Jimmy a Father's Day hat which was so thoughtful of them!

Even though the weather wasn't good, we had a nice time. We are so excited to introduce Nolan to family in the next few weeks!! He is now 4 months old already!

Busy week!

We moved in to the serviced apartment on Sunday and the packers came on Monday and Tuesday. All of our stuff is now being shipped by sea to Florida which will take about 2 months. Nolan was supervising the packing.

I also had to get a picture of Nolan in front of his first home before we left!

For the serviced apartment we are on the 18th floor and we have a small balcony and ocean views.

We are also in process of closing on our house in Deland. We are able to do a mail away process where the documents were sent to us and we went to the US Embassy to sign them and have them notarized. Hopefully everything will be finalized with the house in the next few days. Jimmy was able to see the house we are buying during a work trip a few months ago. Typically we would have had a house hunting trip but since Nolan was born around the time we would have taken it we decided to skip it.

We are mostly done with everything for the move now so we can relax a bit for the last few weeks we have here.

5 More Weeks!

We are down to our last 5 weeks in Singapore! Next week we move to a serviced apartment since it takes 2 months for our furniture to ship back to the US. Candy and Ozzy are already back and staying with my Aunt and Uncle. We will fly to San Francisco on July 1st. There is a direct flight now that is 15.5 hours so it will be nice not to have a layover anywhere. We'll stay there a week to visit with Jimmy's family and then we'll head to Cincinnati for 2 weeks before heading to Deland, FL which is where we are moving. Deland is about 45 minutes north of Orlando so we are hoping for lots of visitors who want to go to Disney World!

We stopped by Merlion Park today to get some Singapore pictures with Nolan before we leave.

Another stamp in Nolan's passport

Since we can easily get to Johor Bahru, Malaysia from Singapore I decided to take Nolan over for a few hours so he could get another stamp in his passport. We took a cab up to the immigration checkpoint in Singapore and then took a bus across the bridge to Malaysia where we went through immigration again in Johor Bahru. We just walked around a few malls that were right there. I stopped to get a crepe and the girls were gushing over how cute he was. He's now 3 months old and has been in 3 countries (Singapore, Taiwan and Malaysia)!

Below are some pictures from his 3 month birthday and swimming in our condo pool.

Mother's Day weekend

I really enjoyed my first Mother's Day weekend. We went to a cookout at a friend's where Nolan went for his first swim- he really likes the water!

On Mother's Day we went to Botanic Gardens where I was able to get some chocolate chip pancakes I really like. They were also giving free cupcakes to all the moms which was a special treat. After breakfast, we walked around the Gardens for awhile - Nolan loves looking around at everything but its so hot we can't stay out for too long.

Nolan's first trip

We decided to go to Taipei so Nolan could meet his Aunt Tiffany. Nolan did great on the flight and was excited to go to dinner with Aunt Tiffany when we landed.

We walked Nolan through a local market on Saturday and spent time at Tiffany's.

On Sunday we had a party so Jimmy's family friends could meet Nolan. We were so touched by how many people attended.

Before we left on Monday, we took Nolan to a temple so he could be blessed. We had a great weekend and were glad we were able to introduce Nolan to more of his family!

Full Moon Party

As part of Chinese tradition, infants have a celebration called a Full Moon party on their 1 month birthday. There are several Chinese traditions including confinement for the mother, shaving the infants hair etc but we decided just to do the celebration.  We had dinner at a Chinese restaurant that had a great view of Singapore with my parents, our friends and Jimmy's co-workers. We were so glad so many people were able to come celebrate Nolan's 1 month birthday with us!!

Welcome Nolan Nianzu Yeh!!!

Our baby was due on March 12 but on February 16 I was pretty sure my water broke in the morning.  I had a doctor appointment that day so I waited until then to confirm with the doctor that it was my water breaking.  Sure enough, she confirmed it and sent me straight to the hospital to be induced.  At 7:13pm Singapore time, we welcomed Nolan Nianzu Yeh to our family weighing 6 pounds, 3 ounces and measuring 19 inches long.  Even though he was 3.5 weeks early, he is healthy and we are so in love with our baby boy!!
